Summer Training - 3 Point Plan

At Penn Legacy we have worked hard over the years to offer the very best to our players in the summer months. We have basically come up with a 3 point plan:

1. REST - We encourage our players to take the month of June off from soccer and rest those weary limbs to allow time for healing and, in many cases, for growing.

2. CLUB CLINICS (included in your fees) - In July we start back up with our Summer School of Xcellence which is focused on a different topic each night. We will also have a number of "free play" days where the kids just come out and play with supervision but no actual coaching.

3. CAMPS - As you may have heard, this summer we are hosting a week-long
Real Madrid Clinic.
We also have the second year of our goalkeeper specific camp.

6:00 pm to 7:15 pm for U9-U12 players
7:15 pm to 8:30 om for U13 and older players (note: U13 moved to later time slot as of 7/18)

For 6 nights over the month of July, we offer top class clinics based on a different topic each night.  Come to all 6, or as many as you can make.  These are a great way to get back into the swing of things after our June break, and there is always a buzz of excitement around the summer SoX sessions.  They will be held at JTL on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through July, starting on the 11th.  For the first 75 mins we will work with our u9 through u13 players, and then for the second 75 mins we bring in the u14s and older.  Each session will have different coaches at different stations and the players are rotated through so that they gave a slightly different exercise and voice each time.  Remember these sessions are encouraged but optional, and ARE included in your fees. No need to register.

Play Days

August 1st and 2nd at Junction Center Fields.

6:00 pm to 7:15 pm for U9-U12 players

7:15 pm to 8:30 pm for U13 and older players (note: U13 moved to later time slot as of 7/18)

On August 1st and 2nd, we will provide a supervised but unstructured environment where the kids arrive, they are randomly sorted into teams, and they just play pickup games.  The games are based on times and age groups that we use for Summer SoX sessions.  We believe it is very important to provide these opportunities just to mix things up and allow the game itself to teach the kids.  The simple enjoyment of playing with new kids, with no "coaching" or expectations can be great for a kid's development, and that is the environment we are trying to create with our Play Days.  Again, these are completely optional and no charge and no need to register.
